| Simple - Serene - Sensational! This lovely gown of rich, heavy slipper satin sits way off the shoulder, its lace and satin neckline creating the perfect frame. It's difficult to show because the manequin doesn't have arms, but on a real live woman, the gown seems to float about the shoulders. The slim waist is accented with deep scallop seaming which dips down into an arc in the back then flows seamlessly into a elegantly draped chapel train. In pale candlelight ivory -top of the line in quality, design, materials and workmanship. Excellent condition. |

| Comparisons to Marilyn are cheap these days - but really, can't you just imagine? Yards upon yards of glistening vintage silk velvet molded and draped into an exquisite - and utterly unique - creation. There is no other gown in the world like it because it is the re-creation of Diana Ackerman, our favorite couture seamstress, who specializes in altering and redesigning vintage gowns. It is an excellent example of what can be achieved in re-envisioning a vintage gown.
Frankly, this beauty came to us in sorry condition - not only was the amazing fabric very dirty, but the bodice of the gown was very poorly designed and made - to see a picture of the original, click on More Pictures above.
Diana took the delicate velvet and re-shaped it into a classic strapless, boning and lining the bodice to give it much-needed structure. Borrowing some fabric from the lavish train, she added 4" to the length by designing a subtly draped hemline with a little peep-toe to show off those sexy sandals, and she enlarged the gown by several inches to boot!
Rummaging through her collection of fine vintage embellishments, Diana found some lovely flowers and buds of similar silk velvet and filled out the clusters with leaves she made from scraps left over from from the train - and a Swan is born! |

| Floating down a staircase into a lover's arms - that's the destiny for a gown like this! Sheer chiffon is draped, layered, and inset with panels of lace over a heavy satin underskirt and miles of netting. Shapely design is too romantic for words & slims the waist to a whisper! Very well designed and constructed and in fine vintage condition. Shown over a very full petticoat with a dropped waist. |
